Background and Education:
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and
Children’s Mental Health Specialist (CMHS). With a Master’s degree in Psychology (Couple and Family
Therapy) from Antioch University Seattle and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology as well, I have been practicing psychotherapy
for over eight years with adults, couples, children, adolescents and families. I have additional years of related
experience including working with adolescents in foster homes, people with mental disabilities, infirm older adults,
co-facilitating support groups, and being a "Big Sister" for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America. Supporting diversity,
I enjoy working with people of all ages, ethnic/cultural backgrounds, abilities, and sexual orientations.
Regularly attending trainings and workshops on various topics,
I am also a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Washington Association for
Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, anger, ADD/ADHD (children, teens
and adults), recovery from abuse or trauma (i.e. post-traumatic stress disorder, domestic violence survivors),
and providing effective parenting strategies. For those interested in holistic healing, I address emotional,
mental, nutritional/health and spiritual/energetic needs.
Therapy style:
I have a gentle and intuitive style, using a nonjudgmental,
supportive approach. I am direct and honest with feedback and observations. Whether working with you, you and
your partner, or your child, I will honor your unique personality and values. It is important to me that both
children and adults feel respected and understood when they are in my office.
My methods include conversation, art or sand
tray therapy, and play therapy for children. I have studied several psychological theoretical perspectives such
as Family Systems, Cognitive-Behavioral, Gestalt, Object-Relations, and Transpersonal theories as well as a variety of
Eastern and Western healing modalities.
Finding or re-learning to trust your inner voice helps you
to communicate much more effectively and to deal with past trauma or challenging family or social situations. This
is an important part of the work I do with adults and children in therapy. I
will help you learn to stay centered within difficult situations, increase your awareness of the dynamics of family/social/work
relationships, and guide you toward making your own empowered decisions. As you tap into your inner wisdom and
innate abilities, you will begin to create the kind of life you really want.
